In one of our earlier class sessions (and again, today, with respect to Monir Farmanfarmaian’s mirror work), we briefly touched upon the topic of engaging tradition today, and I wanted to post an article on that topic, which I wrote for the book, Reverberating Echoes: Contemporary Art Inspired by Traditional Islamic Art, which accompanied an exhibition of the same title.
